John Parish, M.A., P.Geo.

To date Mr. Parish has applied fluvial geomorphology in numerous projects and studies throughout Ontario and the northeastern United States. He has over fifteen years of experience which have included surveys and assessments of hundreds of streams ranging from large rivers to smaller creek channels. Recently completed and on-going projects have included applications of fluvial geomorphology to subwatershed planning studies, channel rehabilitation work using natural design principles, erosion assessments, aquatic habitat enhancement and monitoring. He has also been actively involved in the development of various protocols to aid the implementation of fluvial geomorphology. Further, he has been actively providing various training courses on geomorphology and channel design in addition to lectures at a variety of universities and colleges.

Besides his duties as director of Parish Geomorphic Ltd, and completing technical studies as a senior fluvial geomorphologist, he is actively involved in the professional community. He has been a member of the executive of the Ontario Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society for the last seven years, including two years as Chapter President. He also co-ordinates and delivers training courses on the application of fluvial geomorphology. These courses are typically delivered to government agencies and non-government organizations.
